In a major infrastructure push for Greater Noida West, the Greater Noida Authority has proposed the construction of a ₹900 crore double-decker flyover in Shahberi to tackle one of the region’s most congested traffic stretches. The project, if approved, is expected to significantly improve connectivity between 130-Metre Road, Crossings Republik and NH-9, while providing relief to thousands of daily commuters.
The proposal has been submitted to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for approval to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR). Officials say the flyover has been planned as a long-term solution to the persistent traffic bottlenecks in Shahberi, where rapid urbanisation has led to a sharp rise in vehicle movement.
Uttar Pradesh’s First Double-Decker Flyover
According to officials familiar with the proposal, the planned corridor will be developed as Uttar Pradesh’s first double-decker flyover, featuring two elevated carriageways while keeping the existing road operational for local traffic.
The proposed alignment will connect the 130-Metre Road near Iteda Roundabout with NH-9 through Crossings Republik, creating a faster route for commuters travelling between Greater Noida West, Ghaziabad and Delhi.
Why the Project Has Been Planned
Shahberi has become one of the busiest traffic junctions in Greater Noida West due to the rapid growth of residential societies over the past few years. Despite road widening and traffic management measures, commuters continue to face long queues during peak hours.
Officials believe the proposed flyover will separate through traffic from local vehicles, reducing congestion and improving travel efficiency on one of the region’s busiest corridors.

According to the proposal, the project includes:
- Estimated project cost of ₹900 crore
- Double-decker elevated road with six traffic lanes
- One-way traffic movement on each elevated level
- Existing ground-level road to remain open for local commuters

The detailed engineering design will be finalised after the DPR is approved.
